How engagements run: we start with a one-page brief — what the site is for, who it's for, what counts as success in measurable terms. Then a stakeholder map, an information architecture pass, and a content inventory of what exists, what needs to change, and what needs to be written from scratch. If we're going external, I run the RFP and vendor selection. If we're using your existing dev team, I sit between them and the rest of the business so they can focus on building. Sprint plan or phase plan — whichever fits the team's rhythm, not the other way around.

The content side is where most website projects quietly slip. I run a content production schedule alongside the build plan, with owners against every page, every image, every piece of copy. Launch readiness is its own checklist — redirects, analytics, search console, monitoring, hypercare for the first two weeks post-launch.

The other place projects come apart is at the seams between teams. Engineering hands a build to marketing for content; marketing hands content back without the assets sized right; design realizes the legal team needs to review every page and nobody scheduled that. My job is to see those seams before they break — and to write down the agreements that hold them together once they're set.

A note on cost: the cost of a senior PM on a web build is almost always lower than the cost of the slip it prevents. Most six-figure web projects slip 30 to 60 percent of their original timeline.
